exposure to discrimination, cultural betrayal, and intoxication

In this month's reading we are examining Dr. Jennifer Gomez's experience moving from graduate school into a tenure track position. She also provides advice for Women of Color who are currently on the job market as well as identifying avenues for systematic change. She asserts that by publicly sharing our pain in academia, community, solidarity, and healing can be fostered.

If you are silent about your pain, they will kill you and say you enjoyed it ~Zora Neal Hurston

This SISC Book Club meeting will focus on Chapter 19 of Presumed Incompetent (2nd Edition). This gathering will be facilitated by working group members Zaharia Thomas, Sarah Jackson, and Alexa Barton.
