Applied Social & Cultural Psychology Program
ABOUT US
Aligned with APA’s priority on action science, Florida International University (FIU) Psychology Department's Graduate Applied Social and Cultural Psychology (ASCP) Working Group focuses on supporting students that seek to gain skills in building a research agenda with real world impact; acquiring skills applicable across various career contexts; and preparing for interdisciplinary and intersectional work

Our working group focuses on advancing doctoral students' ability to become action scientists prepared to work in a variety of settings in order to understand, transform, and improve the social and cultural contexts and systems in which humans develop across the lifespan. This is a research-intensive working group that values mixed-methods, hands-on, translational training components for use in real world settings.
Members are actively engaged in conducting research that examines and addresses urgent social issues facing the global community (e.g., social mobility, health inequities, immigration). Our faculty’s leaders' diverse areas of expertise that converge around social justice values provides a well-rounded, equitable and supportive mentoring environment for students
