Presumed Incompetent Book Club
Presumed Incompetent is a pathbreaking account of the intersecting roles of race, gender, and class in the working lives of women faculty of color. Through personal narratives and empirical studies, diverse authors expose the daunting challenges faced by academic women of color as they navigate the often hostile terrain of higher education. We will get to the core of these professional development concerns through lively discussions centered around thoughtfully curated readings from the first or second edition of Presumed Incompetent. Each month, a facilitator will select a chapter fosters open dialogue, introduces new concepts and ideas, and is guaranteed to educate, motivate and inspire! Participants can review Drs. Eaton and Stephens' copies in their offices, download the kindle version, or order hardcopy of these books. Join us to Reclaim Your Time to speak truths about experiences and providing tools for addressing concerns.

Self CAre Days
Balancing graduate school, work, and social obligations is often difficult and can lead to burnout. To reinforce the importance of work/ life integration across the academic pipeline, the ASCP working group members participate in Self Care Days each semester. Hosted by Dr. Eaton's PWR Research Lab, past days have included Big Outdoor Game Day, Yoga in the Yard, and a Paint Party. We also host other gatherings to help students decompress and focus on the world outside the classroom including welcome back and graduation socials! For more details see Our Events page.
